*Deep Breath*
Here’s my ideas for and enhanced 3D painting tool.
add the ability to load an image for use of some of the tools in the right hand corner.
tools:
Stamp tool
rubber stamp: you first select your stamp brush. then select an area on the loaded image. you can the 'stamp' this section of the image onto your 3D model.
texture stamp: like to rubber stamp, only you load on a texture pattern such as tile or wood
Blur: blur smear and smudge painted parts of the 3D model
Burn: lighten and darken the 3D painted areas
too help demonstrate my what Im talking about, a quick little phot edit of a fictional stamp tool in action:

Have you try the 3d paint tool ?
Select your object.
in the mesh tool toolbox, select the texture tool.
create a face texture projector.
create a texture for it.
activate the 3d paint tool...
There is not every think you are asking for, but the base is there if i'm not mistaken.
I plane to enhance it, latter on, with more tool, like painting in the 2d view, painting with procedural material...

I will add your idea to my "todo" list...
But I do not understand (at least not sure I do) the Rubber Stamp and Window stamp.
If i understand correctly, the rubber stamp is a stamp tool but working with a rectangular area of the stamp bitmap. Is that right ?
The difference between these two tools is the stamp bitmaps is tilable ?

The 'rubber' stamp can be shaped like a brush. The loadable picture in the corner is selectable. You move your brush over it and select an area with the brush. That area will be 'stamped' on to where you move your brush on the 3D object.
For example, i want to use this image:
in ppmodeler, i would load it and it would appear, say, in the corner, like this mabey:
i would then select my brush, move it over the picture and slect an area to use, like so:
that selected area would be copied and stamped, or pasted, on to the 3d model with the brush selected, like so:
This could be done with any brush style, not just rectangles.
When you say window stamp, I assume you speak of the texture stamp. I actually like window stamp better. This would work very simarily. Instead of selecting a part of the loaded image, the entire loaded image would be stamped on to the 3D model by the brush. It would look like this:
The top of the cube shows one stamp, the bottom shows two. you could of course alter the brush size to smaller or larger than the image.
Thanks for listening to my idea. _________________ x-fire: counthobo |

Hi,
the possibility to paint with textures would be a good addition to Albatross 3D.
Another useful thing would be pressure control for the brush.

I know, I'm on it.
I want to add the filter possibility (smooth, sharp...), burn and stamp.
I also want to add 3D procedural texture painting. |

Sounds great. Some other great features would be painting on detail like programs like 'zbrush' are capable of. _________________ x-fire: counthobo |

Hi,
sorry for the late answer but i was busy with real life.
The new paint features are great but i found a bug. When in stamp mode and without a selected texture Alb3D will crash when you try to choose the stamp mode (circle, rectangle, etc.).
And working with procedurals still does not work for me. Have you contaced the Darktree developers?
Ok, i have a small feature suggestion that came up while exporting an .obj file. Could Alb3D save the texture maps into the same folder as the .obj and .mtl file? That would save some time.
MfG

I will correct the bug; Thanks for pointing it.
Not yet for the darktree developper.
I will.
The obj export is saving the texture in the same folder, no ?
I will check... I have an idea of what might going wrong...
